Aloha!

Greetings from sunny Hawaii!   Last night’s dinner came from Highway Inn, a great place featured on one of our favorite research sources, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

We inadvertenly (but luckily) had exactly the food featured in the video: Lau Lau Chicken, Poi, Lomi Salmon, Pipikaula (which is a dried beef dish) and Haupia (coconut custard).  Hubs opted for the Kalua Pig combo instead.   We shared the Kalua Pork and Sweet Potato quesadilla because I had to have it.  It was amazing and affordable.  We had two combo plates, soft drinks and shared an appetizer for around $35 with tip (20%).

Want to know my favorite part? How delighted my date was with the find!  Hawaii Inn is not going to win any awards for decor but they have great service, a friendly staff and fresh, delicious food at very reasonable prices.    If we were locals, this is a place we would visit often.  Their poke bar also looked amazing.

More to come from sunny Hawaii!  Are there any places here on Oahu you’d like us to check out?
